100th anniversary of Wright Brothers flight
12/17/03

Members of Pegasus and the Student Library Assn. celebrated the 100th anniversary of the famous Dec. 17 flight of the Wright Brothers with a special program in the library on Wednesday. Everyone listened as Pegasus member, Dan P.,  spoke on the significance of the Wright Brothers' invention, and then watched as Mr. Jeffers, Pegasus club moderator, flew a replica of the Wright Flyer, which he had assembled, from the library ramp. Students from both clubs, who were standing on the top library level, then sent colorful, styrofoam planes flying all over the library. The presentation capped a month-long library exhibit on the Wright Brothers and aviation history.

Christmas Story Hour

The Student Library Assn. held a Christmas Story Hour for children on Saturday. The kids heard Christmas stories, made an “Incredible, Edible Snowman,” had refreshments and then had their pictures taken with Rudolph, who happened to be in the area. Thanks to all who attended. The Student Library Assn. wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Statue of the Blessed Mother
12/8/03

As part of our celebration of the Immaculate Conception, we dedicated a statue of the Blessed Mother. The statue is in part a gift from the family of longtime Eustace maintenance man Michael Harte who devoted 28 years of service to Bishop Eustace. The family attended a Liturgy on December 8 and then Fr. Paul Harte, Mike's son, dedicated the statue.

One Step Closer to Christmas
12/5/03

Bishop Eustace Prep School celebrates Advent by welcoming its newest Christmas decoration – a 25 foot tree that towers over all three stories of the library.  The tree, complete with twinkling lights as it brushes the ceiling, has been erected in front of the window wall of the library, making it visible to the community as they drive around campus and adding to the Christmas spirit.  Many thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Paul May of May Christmas Tree Farm (parents of Ken May, Class of '2001) for donating the tree to the school, to the varsity football team for carrying the tree into the library, and to the maintenance staff for erecting and decorating the tree.  (Click on photo for larger image) (Article: Marylou Williams /  Photos : Patty Knetz & Ben King)
