Thanksgiving Baskets
11/24/03

Thanks to the generosity of the families, students, teachers, and staff of B. E. we delivered close to 200 baskets of food to St. Joseph Parish in Hammonton.  The baskets included the ingredients of a traditional Thanksgiving as well as other needed foods like cereal, pasta, mixes and canned goods.  Thanks to the Italian Conversation Club for helping to deliver the food.  Organization of the project was the work of senior, Tara Capella.

 NHS Blood Drive
11/19/03

The Bishop Eustace National Honor Society sponsored an American Red Cross Blood Drive. The goal was to sign-up 100 students and family members. The N.H.S. hopes to produce between 75 and 85 productive pints of blood. For every pint of blood donated, three lives are saved.  (Click on photo for larger image) (Article : Todd Johnson / Photos : Ben King)

Annual Gingerbread House Competition
11/12/03

Each year, the Bishop Eustace German Club builds gingerbread houses at their November meeting, which are then judged by faculty members. Each class decorated their own house. Congratulations to the Juniors for winning the competition. Members of the Junior team were Bryan Faller, Andy Bergbauer, Laura Seiler, Elise Perkins, Todd Kostka, Dan Osusky, and Anthony DiCarlo.  The German Club would like to thank the faculty members who judged the competition. If you would like to see the completed gingerbread houses, they are on display in the World Language Resource Center.  (Click on photo for larger image) (Photos/Article : Ed Ford)

The Homeless Project
11/3/03

P. Ciullo, K. Pape, G. Laigaie, G. Piatek, D. Fish, and B. Capacasa are just a few of the students that can now relate just a little better to what it means to be homeless. Sleeping in a makeshift shelter for one night on the Quad is a far cry from living homeless day to day, but it was an awakening for some of the students. When questioned about the experience, Briana responded, "It was alright, but then towards morning it got really cold, and we even had sleeping bags. I can't imagine having to do this every day."

The students will be pan handling around campus to raise awareness and money to aid Mercy Hospice, a shelter for homeless women. If you are looking for a chance to change the world, why not start with some of the change in your pocket.

Saint Matthew 25:41
41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
